To spark conversation and getting-to-know-each-other-ness, here's a guideline for introductory posts -- you are of course under no obligation to follow, and in fact you could do something entirely different if you please -- but if you're stuck and still want to say something, how about talking about:

-your name
-where you're from (your country, province, or state, for example)
-your hobbies or career
-something unique about yourself
-your favourite movies, books, music
-authors you like (or detest!)
-your religious beliefs
-your opinion on the current state of world politics
-your pets

I will fill these in for myself later tonight or maybe tomorrow, depending on how horribly hectic the rest of the evening will be. ;) Have fun.

-your name: Ellie
-where you're from: Colorado, United States
-your hobbies or career: Presently a student. Apsiring writer, digital artist, and computer geek.
-something unique about yourself: I'm the only creative writer computer geek that I know.
-your favourite movies, books, music: Favorite movie is The Matrix trilogy. Favorite books are A Prayer For Owen Meany by John Irving, Neuromancer, Pattern Recognition, and His Dark Materials Trilogy by Philip Pullman.
-authors you like (or detest!) I love William Gibson (obviously). I do not like Hemingway.
-your religious beliefs: I was sort of raised a christian, but over the course of the past couple of years, I have abandoned that belief and discovered my own spirituality, which doesn't really have a name. But I'm not an athiest. I'm just not Christian. People confuse that sometimes.
-your opinion on the current state of world politics: I think that politicians are full of crap and the US government has it out for us in an X-Files sort of way. I think that Bush needs to be out of office and soon.
-your pets: none. Wish I had a dog though.

Yaaaaay, thanks for filling it out!

Re: religious beliefs, I've had a similar trouble too--my family always celebrated Christian holidays but never made reference to or actively practised any religion outside of that, so my own beliefs were shaped from all sorts of sources. In fact I am very spiritual, but do not believe in a single God--when I say I am an atheist, people think I am anti-religion which couldn't be farther from the truth.

And I agree about Bush, though not necessarily about the US government--granted they do a lot of shitty stuff but I believe it's more that they just don't fully understand the horrible consequences.
