I’ve started a new specialised SF community. It’s for discussions of science fiction, but not the Star Wars type of SF, or the space-battles-and-laser-cannons type of military SF, or the kind of Hard SF that can only be appreciated by those with post-graduate qualifications in both pure mathematics and physics!
It’s more for stuff like Bruce Sterling - SF that is more interested in people and society than technology (sometimes it gets called Soft SF). And imagination-challenging SF, like J. G. Ballard and Philip K. Dick. And authors who transcend the limitations of descriptions like Hard SF and Space Opera, authors like Alastair Reynolds. And authors who merrily trample the boundaries between genres, like Harlan Ellison. And cyberpunk and slipstream. And SF that addresses ethical issues and even alternate history.
The sorts of thing we don't discuss are military SF, Hard SF and authors like Heinlein and Niven.
